El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, Mexico

For 30 years, until the 1960's, commercial lumber companies worked the
mountains of El Cielo in Northeastern Mexico.  It was then acknowledged that
the area's biodiversity was among the highest in the world - it lies on the climate
transitional zone between North and Central America.  In 1987, the United Nations
designated El Cielo under the Man and the Biosphere program.  Small villages
of families, originally recruited to help with lumbering, remain in the reserve and
live with its available resources while adapting to environmental restrictions.

Blue skies, clear air, mountain views
and potted plants...heaven!
