The Old Guard...and the New

pierre boulez

nurit pacht

In
a pair
of concerts
celebrating Maestro
Pierre Boulez’ 80th birthday,
artistic director & violinist Nurit Pacht
led an excursion through 50 years of Boulez’
compositions, as well as his
vision of the works and
world of Marcel Proust. Each composition was introduced
by Boulez himself through a film made especially for the series
by KOKOBAZ. The programs were met with “tremendous resonance”

.

In 1975, New York City was on the verge of bankruptcy.
A unique coalition of business leaders, unions and public officials came together to save the city.
30 years later, KOKOBAZ is keeping busy with the legacy of this fiscal crisis,
producing three television programs dealing with different aspects of those events.

The NY Historical Society
hosted “Lessons Learned
from the NYC Fiscal Crisis”
joining economics and
urban policy expert
Felix Rohatyn with 1976-78
Municipal Assistance Corp.
Director Eugene Keilin,
former NY State Budget
Director Dall Forsythe and
NYC Independent Budget
Office's Ronnie Lowenstein,
to contrast & compare NYC’s
present financial troubles.

Ed Koch

NY State Comptroller
Alan Hevesi highlighted
Baruch College’s “Twilight
of the Budget Monitors”
which looked back at
the mid-seventies fiscal
crisis and ahead to the
implications of the expected
‘sunset’ of the Financial
Control Board and the
Municipal Assistance
Corporation in 2007.

The Museum of the City of New York hosted
“New York Comes Back” celebrating in-your-face
three term Mayor Ed Koch’s work to revive the
spirit and economy of the city after the near disaster,
and includes a fascinating interaction between Koch,
ex-Mayor Dinkins and present Mayor Bloomberg.

.

Brian Lehrer

On the fly,
within radio's format,
but with a visual mentality,
KOKOBAZ produced 2 television specials
of Brian Lehrer's WNYC radio program,
proclaimed by Time Magazine as
"NYC's most thoughtful and
informative talk show."

The past, the present, the future.  KOKOBAZ has been doing it for 20 years.
We can't wait for tomorrow, cause we get better every day.
